Bhubaneswar: Veteran Odia Flim actor Bijay Mohanty Pass away .Senior actor Bijay Mohanty on more . He died at the capital’s Care Hospital on Monday. He recently came to Odisha from Hyderabad.
Vijay Mohanty, a senior Oriya film actor who has been ill for the past few months, has passed away. He was 70 years old at the time of his death. His era marked the end of an era in the world of Oriya cinema. He was instrumental in establishing Oriya films.
He was admitted to the Care Hospital in Bhubaneswar on Monday evening as his health was critical. He had been receiving treatment at Care Hospital for the past few days. However, wanting to go home, he was brought to his apartment in Rasulgarh industrial area a few days later. He was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at the scene. He was admitted to a Hyderabad hospital last month for treatment. For the last 4/5 years he has been living with his daughter in Hyderabad.
Vijay Mohanty, a trainee from the National School of Drama, Delhi, came to prominence in 1976 by starring in the film ‘Nagfash’. He has received the highest honor of the Oriya film ‘Jaydev Award’ for his outstanding performance. Senior actor Vijay Mohanty was the president of Utkal College of Music. He directed a film called “Don’t Forget”.
Prominent Bollywood actors Nasiruddin Shah, Rajabbar and Om Puri were his classmates while studying at the National School of Drama.
