Kolkata: The West Bengal government has decided to extend the lockdown period till August 31. The announcement was made by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday. Schools and colleges in the state will remain closed until now.
“A record number of tests are being conducted in West Bengal,” he told a news conference. There are 30 major labs in the state, with more than 16,000 tests a day. So more and more cases are coming out.

In terms of corona, West Bengal is a sensitive area. This is because many patients from outside the state come here for treatment. But despite this, no one will be returned for treatment. We have the infrastructure to provide healthcare to all.
He added that eight senior IAS officers have been assigned to eight affected districts in the state.
Due to the Eid al-Adha celebrations in West Bengal next Saturday, there will be no full lockdown. But the full lockdown will be celebrated on August 2. But as the Rakshipurnima falls on August 3, the lockdown will be made that day.
