Modi’s signal to extend lock-down period
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has signaled that the lockdown period may continue in the country, which started on March 24, will end on 14th this month. He made the remarks at an all-party meeting today.
Talking to parliamentary leaders of various political parties through video conferencing, he said it was not possible to lift the lockdown at once. The final decision will be taken after discussions with the chief ministers.
Last week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressed the need for a joint plan with the chief ministers of various states to end the lockdown during video conferencing. Some states, however, have demanded an increase in the cut-off in view of the growing number of corona infections. Various experts have also suggested extending the lockdown period. On March 24, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared a 21-day lockdown in the country.
